THE FOUNDATION

​The Lloyd family's commitment to community service began with Dr. Andre's paternal grandfather Dr. Hugh Lloyd Sr. whose lifelong dedication to caring for others planted the seeds of compassion and integrity that would define FDC. His belief that every person deserves to be treated with dignity became the family's guiding principle in the field of dentistry. He paved the way when he graduated from Howard University School of Dentistry.

GENERATION 2- THE FOUNDER EST. 1993

Inspired by her father's in law example, Dr. Colleen Lloyd also a Howard School of Dentistry alumni, founded Family Dental Care in the early 1990s in Northeast Washington DC. She built the practice on a radical idea: that a dental office could feel like home. For three decades, she was the warm, steady presence that made FDC an institution — treating patients like family and training her son in the art of compassionate care.

PASSING THE TORCH-2024

Dr. Andre Lloyd- Dr. Dre- carries the Howard University of School Dentistry legacy forward with modern expertise and the same warmth that made his mother practice extraordinary. The technology evolves; the commitment to family never changes.

When Dr. Colleen Lloyd opened her practice in the early 1990s, she had a simple powerful vision; create a place where exceptional dental care goes hand and hand with genuine human connection. For three decades, her gentle touch and caring heart transformed routine dental visits into moments of true community.

When Dr. Colleen retired February 2024, she passed the torch to her son , Dr. Andre Lloyd- Dr. Dre- who grew up witnessing her compassionate approach. Today, he combines modern dental expertise with that same irreplaceable warmth. Dental excellence meets genuine kindness, one appointment at a time.
